Travel technology company Holafly has rolled out a new product designed for frequent international travelers and digital nomads. Known as Holafly Plans, the offering introduces a single, ongoing global eSIM subscription that covers more than 160 destinations without requiring users to purchase separate regional or country-specific packages for every trip.
The traditional landscape of international mobile connectivity has long required travelers to download separate eSIMs, swap out physical SIM cards, or purchase new QR codes every time they cross a border. While standard destination-specific eSIMs remain a popular and cost-effective choice for short vacations, long-term travelers often face the tedious process of constantly managing multiple data packages. Holafly Plans aims to streamline this experience by providing a standing global subscription that automatically reconnects users to local networks as they land in new countries.
An eSIM, or embedded SIM, is a digital SIM card built directly into a smartphone’s hardware. Rather than visiting a local shop for a physical plastic chip, users activate a cellular plan by scanning a QR code or installing it through an application, establishing a connection within minutes. Because the technology is software-based, modern smartphones can hold multiple eSIM profiles simultaneously, allowing users to effortlessly switch between a home number and various travel plans.

The newly introduced subscription service is available in monthly, quarterly, and annual billing cycles, with no long-term contracts required, giving users the freedom to cancel at any time. Holafly has structured the plans into two distinct tiers: a Light Plan and an Unlimited Plan, both of which maintain the same extensive coverage across more than 160 countries.
The Unlimited Plan caters heavily to heavy data users, remote workers, and digital nomads who require constant connectivity for high-bandwidth tasks such as video conferencing, media uploads, and remote employment. This tier features unthrottled data allowances alongside an unlimited mobile hotspot function, enabling users to tether laptops and secondary devices on the go. Furthermore, subscribers to the Unlimited tier receive a local phone number originating from the United States, the United Kingdom, or Canada, facilitating the ability to receive standard SMS messages while abroad.
For travelers with more moderate data needs—such as navigating unfamiliar cities, checking messaging applications, and occasional social media browsing—the Light Plan provides 25 gigabytes of data per month. Like its unlimited counterpart, the Light Plan includes hotspot sharing capabilities and maintains coverage across the same global network of destinations.

Additionally, both subscription tiers incorporate Holafly’s "Always On" feature. This inclusion provides subscribers with one gigabyte of backup data every month automatically. Notably, this backup provision persists for life, continuing even if the user eventually cancels their main subscription entirely.
Pricing for the new service varies depending on the region, chosen currency, and the length of the billing commitment. Quarterly subscriptions offer a savings of approximately 10%, while annual plans increase savings to roughly 15%. As an example of the baseline economics, the unlimited annual subscription is priced at approximately $55 USD per month, presenting a significant discount compared to standard international roaming passes offered by major domestic carriers in markets like the United States, which frequently charge significantly higher daily rates or cap high-speed data allotments overseas.
Industry observers note that the introduction of standing global subscriptions marks a shift away from transactional, single-trip data sales toward recurring utility models tailored specifically to the modern remote workforce. While a traveler embarking on a single two-week vacation to a specific country will likely still find traditional, single-use destination eSIMs to be the simpler and more economical choice, individuals who spend the majority of the year moving fluidly across international borders stand to benefit from the consolidated billing and continuous connectivity of a global plan.

Holafly supports the new subscriptions with customer service infrastructure available around the clock, alongside customer policies including a six-month refund framework designed to provide consumer flexibility. As remote work and international mobility continue to evolve, services aiming to eliminate the logistical friction of cross-border communication are expected to play an increasingly central role in travel preparation.
