Opportunities are always welcome in professional and personal life alike. When opportunity knocks, conventional wisdom dictates that you want to make sure you answer. Or do you? It can sound almost sacrilegious to some when people talk about turning down things that wind up directly in front of them, but when you listen to LPGA Tour star Rose Zhang talk about the philosophy of selection, your perspective might just change entirely.
Zhang recently took some time to discuss a major new venture that she was genuinely thrilled to capitalize on: the Women’s TGL, known as the WTGL.
At just 23 years old, Zhang has already experienced a remarkable amount of what professional athletic life has to offer. Her central philosophy during recent conversations centers on the idea of intentionality—making sure that the ventures and projects she chooses to align herself with carry true purpose. The WTGL certainly checks that box for the young phenom.
Zhang is slated to be a foundational part of the New York Golf Club, alongside her friend and fellow LPGA standout Linn Grant, in the innovative tech-infused golf league that is scheduled to launch its inaugural season on November 8th of this year, broadcast live on ESPN. The stakes will be high right out of the gate, with the New York squad squaring off against the Los Angeles Golf Club in the league’s very first match. Fans eager to follow the action can already view the entire inaugural season schedule, which promises to bring a fresh, dynamic energy to the sport.
On the men’s side of professional golf, the TGL has successfully provided an entirely new sector of fans with an exciting opportunity to fall in love with the game. The WTGL carries that exact same potential, entering the sporting landscape at a pivotal moment when women’s sports are experiencing an unprecedented era of growth, visibility, and commercial success.
Zhang is widely recognized as one of the most vibrant, engaging, and interesting personalities on the LPGA Tour. The innovative format of the WTGL is specifically designed to allow viewing audiences to see that dynamic, approachable side of her and her competitors all the more. As the league prepares for its grand debut this November, it is only a matter of time before an even broader audience realizes that Rose Zhang is an athlete well worth following and aligning with both on and off the course.
