Bath & Body Works Debuts New ‘Feel Good’ Concept Store in Charlotte to Redefine Retail Experience

Bath & Body Works is officially stepping into a new era of brick-and-mortar retail with the grand opening of its inaugural "Feel Good" concept store in Charlotte, North Carolina. Unveiled to the public on October 23, 2026, the reimagined storefront represents a significant departure from the brand’s traditional layout, introducing intuitive navigation, immersive testing stations, and a modern aesthetic designed to foster deeper product discovery and hands-on customer engagement.

The Charlotte location serves as the flagship debut for this innovative design format, with two additional Feel Good concept stores slated to open their doors later this fall. According to company leadership, the store concept was directly shaped by consumer feedback, aiming to deliver a more contemporary and frictionless shopping experience that honors the beloved heritage of the Bath & Body Works brand while aligning with modern retail expectations.

A Fresh Approach to Retail Design

The core philosophy behind the Feel Good concept is to encourage exploration in an environment that feels warm, authentic, and visually inviting. Samantha Day, associate vice president of store design at Bath & Body Works, emphasized that the physical layout was meticulously engineered to make browsing easier and more enjoyable for everyday shoppers.

By integrating clear information regarding product ingredients and functional benefits, the brand is helping consumers make more informed choices while navigating the space effortlessly. The Charlotte store features clearly defined product categories and organized displays that group items by distinct fragrance families, such as Warm & Woodsy and Fruity & Bright. Shoppers can also utilize innovative shoppable drawers built directly into the fixtures, adding a layer of tactile discovery to the traditional retail journey.

Maly Bernstein, chief commercial officer at Bath & Body Works, noted that the Charlotte location will act as a vital testing ground for the company. The data and customer interactions gathered from this site will provide crucial insights into how consumers engage with the modernized format, ultimately guiding how the broader retail experience evolves across the company’s entire fleet in the coming years.

Driving Growth Through the Consumer First Formula

The launch of the Feel Good concept store directly reflects the retailer’s overarching "Consumer First Formula," a strategic roadmap introduced by leadership to drive sustainable, long-term growth and revitalize the brand’s market presence. CEO Daniel Heaf has characterized 2026 as an intentional investment year for the company, as Bath & Body Works commits resources to modernizing its physical footprint and enhancing customer touchpoints across all channels.

This physical evolution is not isolated to experimental concept stores. Earlier this summer, the retailer announced plans to roll out enhanced in-store experiences across its entire network of locations spanning the United States and Canada. These updates are part of a multiyear transformation aimed at addressing past performance and positioning the brand for future success.

The company’s financial results underscore the ongoing nature of this transition. In its most recent quarterly earnings report, Bath & Body Works posted net sales of $1.5 billion, representing a 2.3% decrease compared to the same period the previous year. However, net income surged by 84% to reach $118 million. Notably, the company’s direct-to-consumer segment achieved positive growth during the second quarter for the first time since 2021, signaling positive momentum in its omnichannel strategy.

"Returning Bath & Body Works to sustainable growth is a multiyear transformation," Heaf stated during a recent earnings call with financial analysts, emphasizing that strategic investments in store design and customer experience are foundational to that long-term vision.

Immersive Technology and Product Assortment

Inside the Charlotte Feel Good store, visitors are greeted by a carefully curated product assortment that highlights the brand’s most iconic signature fragrances, including long-standing customer favorites like Champagne Toast, Warm Vanilla Sugar, and Japanese Cherry Blossom. In addition to these classic scents, the inventory features newer additions such as Fruit Fusion, a high-profile franchise launched in collaboration with celebrity partner Hilary Duff in July.

To elevate how shoppers interact with these fragrances, the store incorporates several interactive zones and high-tech amenities. Among the standout features are immersive testing stations designed for hands-on exploration, including a dedicated Eau de Parfum bar and a specialized lip-and-blend station. For added convenience and hygiene during product testing, integrated sink stations are strategically placed throughout the sales floor to facilitate effortless product demonstrations and sampling.

Bridging the physical and digital shopping experiences, the store also introduces a digital Fragrance Finder tool. Accessible via an interactive quiz, the technology matches shoppers with specific fragrance families and delivers personalized scent recommendations tailored to individual preferences. This seamless blend of digital utility and physical sensory engagement represents the heart of the Feel Good initiative, offering a glimpse into the future of specialty fragrance retail as Bath & Body Works continues to execute its strategic brand evolution.
