The landscape of professional golf is once again preparing for a technological evolution as the women’s edition of the Tomorrow’s Golf League (WTGL) gets set to launch its inaugural season. Following closely on the heels of the men’s TGL—which was successfully founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports in strategic partnership with the PGA Tour—the women’s league is poised to bring some of the biggest names in the sport into a dynamic, indoor, team-oriented arena.
With 25 elite LPGA Tour players confirmed for the starting blocks, including eight standout competitors from September’s dramatic Solheim Cup, the competition promises high-stakes entertainment. Every single shot from the season-long event will be broadcast live, with players mic’d up to offer fans an unprecedented, intimate window into the competitive mindset of the world’s best golfers. The matches will unfold across November and December at the state-of-the-art SoFi Center in Florida, a purpose-built venue designed specifically to house this innovative, made-for-TV format.
What is the WTGL?
The WTGL represents a major milestone in the commercial and technological growth of women’s professional golf. Building upon the foundational success and operational blueprint of the men’s TGL, the women’s league introduces a fresh, fast-paced team format. Five distinct teams, each proudly representing a major city, have assembled five-player rosters featuring top-tier talent from across the globe.
The entire competition is anchored at the SoFi Center, an architectural marvel built to merge traditional golf skills with cutting-edge indoor simulation technology. By bringing players together in a stadium environment where fans are close enough to hear every tactical discussion, the league aims to attract both traditional golf enthusiasts and a younger, digitally native audience.
How can I watch the WTGL on Sky Sports?
Fans looking to catch all the action live will be able to follow the tournament extensively. Both the 2026 and 2027 editions of the WTGL will be broadcast exclusively across Sky Sports networks, marking a significant expansion of the broadcaster’s comprehensive golf rights portfolio, which also secures a further two years of coverage for the men’s TGL presented by SoFi.
Every single match will be aired live on dedicated channels including Sky Sports Golf, Sky Sports+, and Sky Sports Mix. For those unable to catch the live broadcasts, comprehensive repeats will be made readily available the following day on Sky Sports Golf. Viewers can also stay up to date with breaking news, video highlights, live leaderboards, and detailed reports by utilizing the Sky Sports App.
Where and how are matches played?
The physical setting of the WTGL is unlike anything seen in traditional tournament golf. The SoFi Center’s field of play spans nearly 100 yards long and 50 yards wide, accommodating an intimate crowd of approximately 1,500 spectators who ring the arena to create an intense, arena-style atmosphere.

Matches are engineered as a hybrid of virtual and real-time golf, demanding immense adaptability from the competitors. Specially created holes challenge players to begin their journey in the virtual world, hitting powerful tee shots and long approaches into a massive 64 by 53-foot simulator screen powered by Full Swing technology. Crucially, these shots are executed from authentic playing surfaces featuring real grass, genuine fairways, thick rough, and punishing sand areas to ensure the transition from virtual to physical remains as authentic as possible.
When the action moves inside 50 yards, players transition to a custom-built short game complex within the SoFi Center known as the ‘GreenZone’. This area features a massive 41-yard turntable that can dynamically rotate the putting green and alter the topography, effectively changing the angles, elevations, and difficulty of the required short-game shots on demand. The venue also features uniquely designed challenges, such as "SOS," a par-three hole designed by golf legend Annika Sorenstam that includes 12 distinct tee boxes, offering playing distances ranging anywhere from 119 to 233 yards.
What is the match format?
The structural format of a WTGL match is designed to encourage aggressive play, strategic risk-taking, and continuous momentum shifts. Each match consists of 15 holes of golf, neatly divided into two distinct competitive sessions. The first nine holes are played in a triples format, where teams utilize a three-versus-three alternate-shot structure. This is followed by six holes of high-intensity head-to-head singles golf.
In the singles portion of the evening, each of the three players selected from a team participates in two individual head-to-head matches. Every single hole across both sessions is worth one championship point, and the team that successfully completes the hole with the fewest total shots claims that point.
Adding an extra layer of tactical intrigue to the competition is the strategic use of ‘The Hammer’. Each team is allocated three Hammers per match, which can be deployed mid-hole to immediately double the point value of that specific hole. If a team throws the Hammer while trailing or applying pressure, the opposing team faces a critical choice: they can accept the challenge and play for elevated stakes, or they can reject it, which results in the hole being automatically conceded to the team that threw the Hammer. If both teams throw a Hammer on the same hole and both are accepted, the value of the hole triples, creating massive point swings.
To maintain a brisk and engaging television pace, a strict shot clock limits teams to just 40 seconds to execute each stroke. Additionally, teams are permitted a limited number of timeouts during each match to strategize under pressure. In the event that a match is tied after the completion of all 15 regulation holes, the contest proceeds to overtime, which is settled through a tense three-versus-three closest-to-the-pin showdown to determine the winner.
Who is playing and for which team?
The competitive roster for the inaugural WTGL season reads like a who’s who of modern women’s golf. All five of the franchises competing in the women’s league also field teams in the men’s TGL, establishing unified club brands across both circuits.

Atlanta Drive GC enters the inaugural campaign with a star-studded lineup featuring Nataliya Guseva, Charley Hull, Andrea Lee, Minjee Lee, and Yuka Saso.
Boston Common Golf relies on the talents of Celine Boutier, Chizzy Iwai, Megan Khang, Lottie Woad, and Ina Yoon.
Los Angeles Golf Club boasts a formidable roster consisting of Aki Iwai, Alison Lee, Gaby Lopez, Kiara Romero, and Major champion Michelle Wie West.
Motor City Golf Club brings together a powerhouse group comprising Brooke M. Henderson, Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, Ruoning Yin, and Albane Valenzuela.
Finally, New York Golf Club rounds out the competition with Linn Grant, Danielle Kang, Lydia Ko, young amateur sensation Yana Wilson, and global superstar Rose Zhang.
How does the WTGL schedule work?
The regular season of the inaugural WTGL campaign consists of 10 matches, structured around a traditional round-robin format where every team plays against each of its four rivals. Following the conclusion of the regular-season fixtures, the top four teams in the standings advance directly to the post-season.
The league standings utilize a straightforward points-based system. Teams are awarded two points for a standard match victory, while a team that falls in overtime is still rewarded with one point for their efforts.

The championship battle culminates in a dramatic four-day post-season event. The semi-finals are contested across successive days on December 20 and 21, paving the way for a high-stakes, best-of-three final series starting a day later to crown the very first WTGL champion.
