Vogue World: Milano Set to Celebrate Italian Craftsmanship and the Human Touch in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Following exuberant, star-studded iterations in New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles, Vogue World is officially bringing its global fashion celebration to Italy. Scheduled for September 22, 2026, on the opening day of Milan Fashion Week, the upcoming event will honor the enduring legacy of "Made in Italy" while exploring the vital intersection of human artistry and technological innovation.

The announcement was made official during a press conference in the Sala Alessi at Palazzo Marino, following an exclusive morning luncheon at Marchesi co-hosted by Prada and Vogue. Organizers confirmed that the event will take over the city’s historic, glass-topped shopping arcade, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, situated centrally between the iconic Duomo and the Teatro alla Scala.

Francesca Ragazzi, Vogue Italia’s head of editorial content, emphasized the cultural significance of choosing Milan for the 2026 installment, especially at a time when technology and artificial intelligence are rapidly transforming creative industries.

"We are so excited that Milan will be the next city to host Vogue World in 2026," Ragazzi said in a statement. "This extraordinary event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate with a global audience the timeless story of Made in Italy, a story of genius and craftsmanship. It feels particularly meaningful to do so at this moment in time, in the era of artificial intelligence."

When is Vogue World: Milano?

Vogue World: Milano will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, arriving just a few months after Milan co-hosts the Winter Olympic Games. The event is slated to unfold across a series of thematic acts designed to survey fashion’s capacity to preserve heritage, drive innovation, and shape the future.

The production will explore a sweeping timeline of Italian textile and design history, ranging from the intricate brocade work of the Renaissance period to modern industrial wool, and from traditional physical garments to screen-based imagery. Organizers describe the overarching narrative as a continuous dialogue between hand and machine, brought to life through collaborations with leading Italian fashion houses, master artisans, and international creative talent.

Where will Vogue World: Milano be held?

The choice of venue holds immense architectural and cultural weight for the city. Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and Vogue’s global editorial director, highlighted why the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II serves as the ideal backdrop for the celebration.

"Milan is one of the great European capitals of craftsmanship, where heritage and modernity meet, and where art, literature, opera and industry have long converged," Wintour noted in a statement. "There could be no better place for Vogue World to honor everything that is extraordinary about this city than the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II."

How will Vogue World: Milano differ from previous versions of the event?

While every iteration of Vogue World shares a common goal of celebrating the global fashion community, each event adopts a distinct local flavor and conceptual framework. The concept debuted in New York in 2022 with a street fair and high-fashion runway show intended to revitalize the city’s fashion week following the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2023, the event shifted to London for a theatrical evening at the West End, directly benefiting the city’s performing arts scene. The 2024 edition took over the historic Place Vendôme in Paris, pairing fashion with sports ahead of the Olympic Games with the participation of more than 500 models, athletes, and performers. Most recently, the event traveled to Hollywood to explore fashion’s historic and enduring love affair with cinema.

In Milan, the focus shifts squarely toward the foundational value of handicraft, artisan expertise, and the preservation of human skill in modern manufacturing.

Who is helping to bring Vogue World: Milano to life?

Mounting an operation of this scale requires a vast network of international creative directors, producers, and beauty professionals. The leadership team includes Anna Wintour and Francesca Ragazzi, supported by Juan Costa Paz of the Paris-based creative studio Convoy, who serves as the show’s creative director.

Lady Amanda Harlech is spearheading the fashion direction, working alongside Peter Aluuan as styling director and Luca Galasso as Special Performers and Extended Cast Fashion Director. Choreography is being executed by Charm La’Donna, while Jen Green of Genevieve Productions serves as show producer and Stephen Galloway acts as movement director.

Judith Clark, Professor of Fashion and Museology at the University of the Arts London, joins the team as show curator. Executive production is handled by Marie Julie Craeymeersch of Mode and the Moon, partnering with Marco Balich and Balich Wonder Studios, with Without Production managing backstage operations.

Beauty and styling are anchored by industry leaders, with Dame Pat McGrath leading makeup design and execution through Pat McGrath Labs as the official backstage makeup brand. Cyndia Harvey oversees hair styling, and Eri Narita leads nail styling. Additionally, select fashion and accessories for the production will be sourced via eBay, Vogue’s official vintage and pre-loved partner.

On the technical and artistic side, Ivan Striga serves as executive music producer, with Gaspard Murphy and Thomas Roussel managing music direction. Lighting design is spearheaded by Ignace D’Haese of ARF&YES.

What will Vogue World: Milano’s charitable component look like?

True to the philanthropic tradition established during previous installments—which have collectively raised several million dollars for charitable organizations worldwide—Vogue World: Milano is committing significant resources to a local civic initiative.

Vogue has pledged an investment of at least two million euros to revitalize and expand the Quarto Oggiaro Library located in northwestern Milan. The funds will be used to inaugurate a new center within the facility designed to support young creative talent in fashion, music, and the arts, serving as a dynamic cultural hub where expertise, technology, and community intersect.

"With this project, we aim to nurture the talent of Quarto Oggiaro’s young creatives by offering them tools, spaces, and opportunities for expression and collaboration," said Stefano Parise, director of the Libraries Department of the City of Milan.

Francesca Ragazzi reiterated that the philanthropic project directly mirrors the thematic core of the fashion presentation itself.

"The theme of Vogue World: Milano revolves around the value of the human element and the need to preserve the meaning of doing, learning, and creating in an increasingly digital world," Ragazzi said. "The redevelopment of the Quarto Oggiaro Library—one of Milan’s priorities—embodies this vision by transforming a place historically dedicated to knowledge into a contemporary cultural hub where creativity, curiosity, and community come together in a vibrant way."

Milan City Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi emphasized the broader municipal importance of extending cultural investments beyond the city’s historic core.

"For us, investing in the Quarto Oggiaro Library means investing in the next generation," Sacchi said. "Libraries today are no longer just places for books: they are social and cultural spaces where people study, meet, exchange ideas, and spend time together. Vogue World: Milano allows us to rethink this library on a much larger scale, making it more open, more welcoming, and more useful to the community around it. A city’s cultural life cannot exist only in its historic center: It has to reach the neighborhoods where everyday life actually happens."

Barbara Tripodo, the library’s director, echoed these sentiments, noting the profound impact the transformation is expected to have on local residents.

"We are thrilled by the opportunity to collaborate on this project," Tripodo said. "We are confident that the redevelopment of the library will have a significant impact on neighborhood life, enriching it with renewed spaces for social interaction, innovation, and the development of new creative energy."
