Apple Set to Reveal ‘HomeView’ Smart Home Hub and Refreshed Home Devices This Week

Apple is preparing to make its most significant push into the smart home ecosystem to date. According to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the technology giant is scheduled to announce a brand-new smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday, marking a major strategic expansion for the company’s hardware lineup.

The upcoming announcement comes after years of speculation, development hurdles, and industry rumors. Over the past couple of years, multiple reports indicated that Apple was actively working on an advanced smart home product, though the project faced several delays. Most notably, reports from early last year pointed to challenges related to integrating sophisticated Siri capabilities into the device. Now, however, the product finally has an official name and a firm launch date, signaling that Apple is ready to challenge competitors like Amazon and Google in the fiercely contested smart home market.

According to Gurman, the HomeView will be powered by Apple’s A18 chip and deeply integrated with Siri, serving as a central command station for consumers to manage and control their interconnected smart home devices. To accommodate different living spaces and consumer preferences, the HomeView will reportedly be released in two distinct models. One version is designed to sit on countertops, nightstands, or kitchen islands, while the second model is engineered to be mounted directly onto walls, offering flexible installation options for modern homes.

Will the HomeView be Apple’s first smart home success?

This upcoming release represents Apple’s most serious and concerted bet on the smart home sector yet. Historically, the company has struggled to capture substantial market share or dominant traction in this space, despite previous efforts with its HomeKit software framework and the release of various iterations of the HomePod smart speaker. While HomeKit established a secure and privacy-focused standard for home automation, Apple lacked a dedicated physical control hub that could unify households in the same way competing ecosystems have done with devices featuring built-in displays. The HomeView is designed to directly bridge that gap.

The HomeView launch will not be a solitary event. Gurman reports that on Tuesday, Apple will also unveil updated versions of two foundational home devices: the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini. These hardware refreshes indicate a broader, coordinated effort by the company to revitalize its entire home product portfolio simultaneously, creating a more cohesive ecosystem for users who rely on Apple services and hardware throughout their houses.

Furthermore, Apple’s smart home ambitions extend beyond standalone entertainment and control hardware. Earlier this week, reports emerged that Apple is planning a strategic partnership with LG to manufacture and release a suite of smart home accessories. This rumored collaboration is expected to introduce an Apple-branded smart lock, a smart thermostat, and a smart doorbell, significantly broadening the company’s footprint in home security and climate control. By combining these essential physical infrastructure devices with the upcoming HomeView hub, the updated Apple TV, and the refreshed HomePod mini, Apple is positioning itself to offer a comprehensive, end-to-end smart home experience that ties directly into its broader hardware and software ecosystem.
