Bessemer Venture Partners Closes $5.75 Billion in New Funds to Back AI Founders From Seed to Growth

Venture capital giant Bessemer Venture Partners announced on Wednesday that it has successfully closed $5.75 billion across two newly minted funds, marking a massive capital commitment designed to accelerate the firm’s investments across every layer of the artificial intelligence stack. The fresh capital injection underscores a sweeping, strategic pivot by one of Silicon Valley’s most historically successful venture firms as it doubles down on the generative AI and agentic technology boom.

According to the official announcement, the massive capital pool has been neatly bifurcated to address different stages of the corporate lifecycle. Bessemer has earmarked $1.75 billion specifically for seed-stage and early-stage startup investing, providing the runway for nascent concepts to build out their core technologies. Meanwhile, the remaining $4 billion has been allocated to a dedicated growth fund, positioning the firm to write substantial checks as promising AI enterprises scale, expand operations, and navigate competitive global markets.

This latest fundraise brings fresh resources to a firm with a storied legacy in the technology sector. Bessemer is widely recognized as a premier venture capital institution of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) era. Over the past two decades, the firm earned its reputation by identifying and backing legendary enterprise software winners that transformed how modern businesses operate, including Box, DocuSign, and Gainsight.

However, the rapid paradigm shift brought on by generative AI and foundational machine learning models has dramatically altered venture capital priorities. Since 2022, Bessemer has methodically positioned itself at the forefront of the AI wave, investing in more than 260 AI-native companies to date. Altogether, the firm reports that it has already deployed approximately $3 billion into the artificial intelligence ecosystem. Its expansive portfolio covers a wide spectrum of the technological stack, ranging from fundamental compute infrastructure and foundation models to developer tools, specialized application-layer startups, and advanced agentic technologies.

Among the prominent names already backed by Bessemer are industry leaders such as Anthropic, Cognition, Legora, Perplexity, Ramp, Shopify, and Waymo. By assembling a portfolio that spans infrastructure providers and consumer-facing applications alike, the firm has positioned itself to capture value regardless of which specific layer of the AI economy yields the highest long-term returns.

VC firm Bessemer now has another $5.75B to invest in (what else?) AI

Within the firm and across the broader investment community, artificial intelligence is increasingly viewed as a once-in-a-generation commercial opportunity. Bessemer’s leadership is explicit in characterizing the current technological movement as a transformative moment for enterprise software and digital infrastructure, echoing sentiments that have come to dominate venture capital boardrooms worldwide.

"AI-native companies are scaling faster than any category of technology we’ve backed before," said Bessemer Partner Byron Deeter, highlighting the unprecedented velocity with which these startups achieve market penetration, user adoption, and substantial revenue streams compared to past generations of internet and cloud companies.

Beyond the rapid growth rates of AI startups, venture capital firms are facing mounting structural pressures that necessitate larger funding vehicles. Speaking with Bloomberg regarding the new $5.75 billion capitalization, Deeter explained that venture firms must continually expand their war chests to support portfolio companies over extended timelines. According to Deeter, the trend of high-growth technology companies choosing to remain private for significantly longer periods has evolved into "a permanent structural shift" within the global financial markets.

Because tech startups are delaying traditional initial public offerings (IPOs) in favor of private liquidity rounds and secondary markets, early and growth-stage investors must command deeper pools of capital to sustain their positions. These mega-funds allow venture firms to participate in successive funding rounds, shielding promising AI category leaders from premature public market exposure while enabling them to secure the massive capital reserves required to compete against well-funded technology conglomerates.

With $5.75 billion now officially at its disposal, Bessemer Venture Partners enters the next phase of the artificial intelligence boom with one of the industry’s most formidable war chests. As the competition for access to top-tier AI founders intensifies among premier venture firms, Bessemer’s dual-fund strategy ensures that the firm will remain a dominant financial force from the earliest days of a startup’s inception all the way through its global expansion.
