Travel connectivity provider Holafly has officially introduced "Holafly Plans," a new product offering a single, ongoing global eSIM subscription spanning more than 160 destinations. Designed to eliminate the friction of traditional international data procurement, the service caters primarily to digital nomads, frequent flyers, and long-term travelers who continuously move across borders without returning to their home countries.
For years, the eSIM market has relied on a transactional model where users download a provider’s application, select a localized data package, install the digital SIM into their smartphone hardware, and use it until the expiration date or data limit is reached. While numerous providers have populated the market with these short-term solutions, Holafly has maintained a strong following among frequent travelers due to its competitive pricing and user-friendly interface.
Traditional eSIMs are inherently built for single trips. A traveler heading to Portugal for two weeks, for instance, purchases a specific destination-based eSIM as a one-and-done transaction. However, long-term travelers and digital nomads face an entirely different set of logistics. Constantly changing itineraries require purchasing new eSIMs, scanning new QR codes, re-downloading configurations, and dealing with potential connectivity drops at international borders.

The new Holafly Plans product addresses this operational hurdle by introducing a standing global subscription model. Users purchase and install the digital SIM only once. As the subscriber moves from country to country, the eSIM automatically reconnects to local networks without requiring any additional user intervention, re-purchasing, or sim-swapping. The service functions similarly to a traditional domestic mobile carrier, but at a significantly reduced global cost.
Holafly Plans are offered on a monthly, quarterly, or annual billing cycle, with no long-term annual contracts required, allowing subscribers to cancel at any time. The service is divided into two distinct tiers: the Light Plan and the Unlimited Plan.
The Unlimited Plan provides subscribers with no data caps and includes an unlimited hotspot feature, enabling users to tether their laptops and other devices while on the move. This tier is particularly targeted at digital nomads who handle heavy workloads involving video uploads, continuous video calls, and remote office management. Additionally, the Unlimited Plan includes a local phone number from the United States, the United Kingdom, or Canada, granting users the ability to receive SMS messages while abroad.

For travelers with more moderate data needs, the Light Plan offers 25GB of data per month across the same network of 160-plus destinations. This tier still includes hotspot capabilities, making it a viable option for users whose travel data consumption is primarily focused on navigation, messaging applications, and casual web browsing.
Both plan tiers incorporate Holafly’s "Always On" feature, which provides subscribers with 1GB of backup data every month automatically for life, persisting even if the customer eventually cancels their primary subscription entirely.
Pricing for the subscription varies by region, currency, and the chosen billing duration. Quarterly plans offer savings of approximately 10 percent, while annual commitments reduce the cost by roughly 15 percent. As a baseline benchmark, the unlimited tier is priced at approximately $55 USD per month when purchased as a one-year commitment. This positions the service well below the typical international roaming costs charged by major domestic carriers in markets like the United States, where comparable overseas data packages frequently exceed $100 to $300 per month through daily roaming passes or tiered carrier plans.

The underlying technology of an eSIM relies on a digital SIM built directly into a smartphone’s hardware, eliminating the need for a physical plastic card. Because the system is entirely software-based, modern smartphones can hold multiple eSIM profiles simultaneously, allowing users to seamlessly toggle between a domestic home number and various international travel profiles without manipulating the device physically.
While the new ongoing subscription model is tailored for individuals spending the majority of the year away from their home countries, company representatives note that traditional destination-specific eSIMs remain the most cost-effective and straightforward choice for travelers taking only one or two short vacations per year.
Holafly supports the new subscription rollout with a customer service infrastructure operating around the clock to assist users with setup or technical inquiries. The company also backs the plans with a six-month refund policy, offering a longer evaluation window than is typical within the digital SIM industry.
