Diane Lane Joins Hulu’s Erotic Thriller Series ‘Victoria’ Alongside Li Jun Li

Academy Award nominee Diane Lane has officially boarded the cast of Hulu’s upcoming limited series Victoria, adding significant star power to the high-stakes project. The announcement, made jointly by the streaming platform and Disney’s Onyx Collective, reveals that Lane will step into the role of Lee Calloway, a formidable presence within the narrative. Calloway is described as a savvy venture capitalist who is entirely accustomed to getting what she wants. Having worked tirelessly to achieve her status, she is fiercely protective of her position and will stop at nothing, letting no one stand between her and ultimate success.

Lane’s casting brings her into an already compelling ensemble led by Li Jun Li. Li, whose recent screen credits include appearances in projects such as Spider-Noir and The Sinner, is set to star as Maxine Tao. In the series, Maxine is characterized as a sophisticated yet exceptionally cunning woman who finds herself deeply immersed in the intensely competitive and high-stakes world of venture capital. The dynamic between Lane’s established, ruthless venture capitalist and Li’s cunning newcomer promises to serve as a central pillar of the dramatic tension within the limited series.

The broader framework of Victoria positions the project as a sleek, dangerous exploration of ambition and deceit. According to the official logline released by the platform, the series is set squarely in the cutthroat world of San Francisco’s elite. Victoria is framed as an erotic thriller centered on a brilliant con artist. As the narrative unfolds, this protagonist finds herself tangled in a dark web of power and luxury, eventually landing directly in the crosshairs of a seductive killer who happens to possess intimate knowledge of her closely guarded secrets. The juxtaposition of San Francisco’s opulent tech and venture capital wealth against a dark, psychological cat-and-mouse game establishes the tone for the suspenseful project.

Behind the scenes, Victoria boasts an impressive roster of creative talent guiding its production. The series was created by Christy Hall, whose previous work includes screenwriting for the feature film adaptation It Ends With Us. In addition to creating the show, Hall is taking on a multifaceted leadership role, serving as the primary showrunner, an executive producer, and the writer for the project. Her involvement signals a strong authorial vision for the dark, character-driven thriller as it translates to the episodic streaming format.

Directorial duties for the pivotal pilot episode have been assigned to Geeta Vasant Patel, who will also serve as an executive producer on the series. Patel’s involvement brings further prestige and experienced direction to the production team. On the studio side, the project is a collaborative effort between Disney’s Onyx Collective and Counterpart Studios. Counterpart Studios is heavily represented in the executive producing ranks, with Lilly Burns, Elise Henderson, and Tony Hernandez all executive producing on behalf of the banner. Furthermore, star Li Jun Li is taking on additional behind-the-scenes responsibilities, set to co-produce the series alongside her starring duties.

The greenlighting of Victoria was initially announced by Hulu earlier in the month, at which time the platform confirmed that Li Jun Li was attached to headline the project. With the subsequent addition of Diane Lane, the series has rapidly elevated its profile, signaling a major push by Onyx Collective and Hulu into premium, star-driven psychological and erotic thriller territory.

As the production moves forward, the professional representation for the key creative forces highlights the industry weight behind the series. Diane Lane is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Range Media Partners, and Weintraub Tobin. Li Jun Li is represented by the Gersh Agency, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and the legal firm Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner Auerbach Hynick Jaime LeVine Sample & Klein. Series creator Christy Hall is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Untitled Entertainment, and Yorn Levine Barnes. With principal casting underway and a robust creative team established, Victoria continues to shape up as one of the more closely watched upcoming entries in Hulu’s prestige streaming slate.
